I got into guitar quite late really, started at 16 all because of Prince and I’ve been playing ever since. I’m probably the odd one in the band as far as musical tastes go as I’m not really heavily into the more obvious genres that are a part of Prince’s sound. My influences are of a more Rock/Alternative background, but Prince has always been my first inspiration and to this day for me remains head and shoulders above all others for me. Jaws generally drop in my peer groups when I tell people my favourite musician is Prince!

Music, playing and writing is basically my passion in life. I play in an original band called Grinn, and am the main co-writer with singer Ian. Ian and I have been in bands together on and off over the years. We currently have 2 albums available both with an overall punk/pop direction, but with more alternative influences creeping in. We are currently writing album 3 which is looking like being a double…. guess that’s a bit like Prince!

I’m also have a tribute band called The Sisters Of Murphy, which is a homage to The Sisters Of Mercy the seminal 80s/90s goth act. This band has afforded me the chance to play up and down the country and into Europe. We have been rolling along for almost 8 years now and still on the road.

For me, playing some Prince is a kind of “full circle” experience as its back to where it started for me, and I cant wait to play in a bigger band (keys, horns etc) and try and recreate some fantastic songs.
